 “Whoa, slow down!” said Asp uneasily, watching Tullugaq trying to finish her lunch as quickly as possible. “You might choke.”

They were at a wobbly outdoor table a short distance away from the bus.

“I have to hurry,” said Tullugaq, still stuffing her face. “There are places here to explore.”

“There’s no hurry,” said Maureen, delicately sipping her ice tea, “no reason to hurry at all.  You still have plenty of time.  I’m sure Gnashgarak’s a leisurely eater.”

Kes splashed and swam happily around, several times diving down and streaking up and down along the riverbank like a porpoise. A half hour passed, she happened to glance back at the now distant shore.  Immediately, she stopped splashing and a chill prickled up her spine.

Tullugaq rubbed the back of her head then rotated her shoulders.  Her muscles ached from sitting scrunched up in her seat for an hour and a half, and her mood wasn’t much better.  She was tired of the swaying of the carriage, the snorting of the Greebik, plus both her feet kept going to sleep, and she wanted more than anything to get off.

Kes was curled up beneath her embroidered down covers. Its quilted layers were supposed to offer the occupant a comfy warm space to creep under and shut out the outside world.  Yet her dreams were far from comforting.

In this dream, a steady stream of skunks was pursuing her.  They were gamboling merrily along, while Kes shrieked and clawed her way desperately through air as thick as molasses.

Despite her frantic efforts , she only achieved the top speed of a half mile per hour--the same speed of an ordinary skunk plodding along in its usual flat-footed gait.

Even though she was a hermit, the Gerdin didn't live alone in the woods with just her books and artwork for company.  The orchard was often frequented by a feral flock of epeeki, chicken-sized birds with thick pale beaks and olive-gray feathers.  Although the Gerdin collected their green speckled eggs, she didn't bother trying to catch one for the cook pot.  Although friendly and docile, they were super-fliers when panicked.  Also they had more wit and personality compared to a common chicken or duck, so she couldn't bear to eat an animal that she

Sixteen-year-old Twhistle Tullugaq trudged down the winding forest trail leading to the Greebik stop.  She shuffled along, dragging her feet, and didn’t try to catch up with her sister Kiki, age nine, who was lugging a large duffel bag and a heavy rausch horn case.

A result of 12 hours work in PhotoSuite4, interrupted with breaks for tea and yogi exercise.

A continuation of a dream series I had where I discovered a post-apocalyptic world in an upstairs closet of this old house. This world is one part of a multiverse of many worlds including Earth and the world of Faerie. These are connected by a portal or linking room known as the World Gate.

In my version, this version of hell is kind of like Xibalba in Maya mythology, an incredible large place, divided into a number of individual structures or locations ruled by many tyrannical "Death Gods" and their helpers. However, instead of a place of judgment and a spiritual forge where the soul is purified for its eventual ascent to the higher spheres; it's actually a post-apocalyptic earth where the demons are actually mutated humans split into several different castes as a result of the past catastrophe and the resulting strain on resources.

:thanks:I'm trying to decide the past history of how a portal of hell appeared in an upstairs closet. I have several ideas including one involving an angry girl who wasn't allowed to go to a rock concert by her parents.
