--an really old work partly inspired by The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse by Beatrix Potter first published in 1910.
The book tells the story of a wood mouse named Mrs. Tittlemouse and her desperate efforts to keep a tidy house despite numerous, unwanted visitors including a sloppy wet toad named Mr. Jackson. The obsessive-compulsive Mrs. Tittlemouse also made her first appearance in The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies.
This scene depicts one of the many storage rooms in Mrs. Tittlemouse's house. I had to look in one of my nature books in order to get a good reference on horse chestnuts.
