i really recommend that you start using something like DAZ studio or makehuman to provide poses and proper character proportions for you. Still draw your stuff, just use the 3d as a model to get foreshortening and perspective down. As I've stated before you have a wonderful sense of design and you narrative flow is great but the awkward character proportions throw it all off in some cases. your female figure in this one is not even 6 heads high - is she a dwarf? 7.5 to 8 heads tall is the standard for humans. Most great figurative art out there has a strong foundation in either life drawing or utilizes photographic reference. If you're not cheating your not doing it right.
Thank you for recommend something better than the outdated art programs I'm presently using. I'm more of a traditional artist than a digital one. Digital painting unfortunately isn't one of one my high point nor is realistic foreshortening and perspective. When I did this work I had Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in mind where she goes down a rabbit hole and finally comes to a curious hall with many locked doors of all sizes. However, in my work, the door isn't too small for my character to fit through, and she's pretty small--4' 6". Still I think I screwed up totally with the height, but I was in a hurry get this particular vision out before it faded back into my unconscious.
Is it possible to good online and get a free download of DAZ studio or Makehuman or do I have to order it online or go look for it at someplace like Costco or Target?
